Come and kick off the Yuletide season and jump the bonfire with Desert Henge Coven as we celebrate the birth of the Sun God at our Winter Solstice public ritual. Our Celtic ancestors celebrated the rebirth of the Oak King, the Sun King, the Giver of Life with the passing of the dark half of the year and look towards the light as the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer each day. Dress festive and warm! Please gather at Himmel Park, the grove of pine near the library at 6:30pm for our 7pm start time. We will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the food bank OR an unwrapped toy for the refugee center so the joy of the season can be shared with those in need. We thank you in advance for your presence. A small feast of fruits, treats and spiced cider will be provided. Blessed Be!
The TAWN Samhain rite is being held on
Raya, aka April, has offered to lead Lammas for TAWN on Sunday, August 4th, gathering at
Desert Henge, our British Traditional coven led by priestess Shea Hermes, has volunteered to lead a Yule ritual this year. Details to follow. And, of course, there is all of 2020 if you have a favorite holiday. Any Nature-based traditions are welcome to lead these, or other, public rites. The site closes at approximately at 7:30pm.
The following are the booth fees for TAWN Fall Festival 2019.
-For a nonprofit Information space: $5
-For a regular (10’ by 10’) Vendor space: $10
-For a larger (up to 10’ by 20’) Vendor space: $15
The vendor will specify the size of space requested with the default being the 10 x 10 space. If you would like more than the 10 x 20 space, contact the Festival Coordinator. The usage of the electric power which is available in many areas in and near the church buildings is under the direction of TAWN. TAWN will try to honor vendor requests but cannot guarantee to do so. Vendor space will be assigned by the order in which TAWN receives vendor applications. All decisions by the Vendor Coordinator are final and will be supported by the Board.
Silent auctions are a major fund-raiser for TAWN. Most of our vendors contribute an item valued at $50.00 or more to these fund-raising activities. TAWN displays the name of the vendor and, if provided, their business card next to the item when it is offered for raffle or auction. The vendor application form includes a space to fill in what item(s) you will be donating. The item may also be donated in person at the event. TAWN is a 501(c)3 organization and tax receipts are available for all donations.
ALL VENDORS AND PSYCHICS MUST HAVE A CURRENT CITY OF TUCSON BUSINESS LICENSE OR FORTUNE-TELLER’S LICENSE DISPLAYED PROMINENTLY WHILE WORKING THE FESTIVAL. NO EXCEPTIONS.
For information about licenses: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/finance/apply
Vendors must follow Federal, State, and Tucson City laws and ordinances. TAWN bylaws and Tucson city ordinances prohibit nudity, illegal drugs, and alcohol at the event. Violators will be requested to leave and/or be turned over to the Tucson Police Department. TAWN believes that one of the keys to a successful event is for everyone involved – members, vendors, participants, guests, and visitors- to treat each other with courtesy and respect. Any inconsiderate behavior, including racial or religious slurs, will not be tolerated. Any disruptive and/or offensive behavior can result in the suspension of your vendor privileges without refund or recourse, and may also result in removal from the event. All vendor vehicles must be in the parking spaces during the official festival time. Vehicles parked inappropriately or in reserved spaces may be towed at owner expense. Certain vehicles are permitted to be used as selling venues if arranged in advance with TAWN. TAWN is not responsible for lost, delayed, or misdirected mail.

We are still in need of volunteers to lead rituals for most of the Sabbats in 2019. Patrick Campion has graciously agreed to do Samhain, but no others are spoken for. Litha/Summer Solstice is barely a month away. Come on, people. You like to attend these, so please step up. Any traditions welcome. Coven, Grove, Kindred, or Solitary doesn’t matter. You pick the date, time, and place.
Sincere thanks to Hearths Gate Coven for the enjoyable Beltane, complete with Maypole dance.

Raya apologized for her illness which kept her from the meeting, Gwyn coordinated the meeting.
Gannd brought forth the very serious need for more members. Without members, there can be no organization. Gannd is donating the funds for the venue for Fall Fest.
Carol stated a need to make the vendor packet available ASAP.
Ideas discussed concerning Fall Fest in an informative manner for the guests included:
Bake sale is ok but food vendors need permits,
Silent auction, bag ticket auction, and raffles, and
The idea of volunteer musicians while the vendors pack up just before ritual. One guest, Oliver, volunteered and his contact information was taken down. Rachel volunteered to play recorder and to help with the setup, and Sally volunteered to participate in the bake sale.
The need to start getting artwork for the T-shirts so we can choose one and get them printed. We asked for suggestions for the theme. Anthony and Rachel had ideas for the artwork.
Earth Day went well. Raya, Gannd, Gwyn and Fumbolina- Leanna were all present. We had a table for children’s activities and our informational table had many visitors taking informational handouts.
Beltane went well thanks to Hearths Gate. There were 12 dancers on the Maypole and it came out beautifully.
Volunteers to run rituals are needed. Mabon is covered. The rest, especially Litha as it is next, need hosts.
Raya- Get updated on what she missed
Gannd- Keep track of finances
Gwyn- Get the minutes posted
The next Board meeting will be on 27 May 2018, 10am at La Madera Park
These minutes were approved on 14 June 2018
Mother Earth Ministries, our local Pagan prison ministry, needs a new corresponding priest/ess to respond to inmate inquiries. Our current writing priestess must resign due to health issues, and our inmates count on being able to get answers to their religious questions. We are not pen pals. Good familiarity with Paganism needed, though there is time to research answers if required. Ashleen and I are always available to assist, too.
We have many informational brochures to send to answer general questions, and a form letter that can quickly be customized if that is all that is needed. Please contact Carol Garr (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ashleen O’Gaea (email@example.com) for questions or to volunteer to help. You may also check out our web site http://MotherEarthMinistries.org to see more about us and view some of the literature available.
